7. Great Shake Out: This past Thursday, there was a province wide Earthquake drill for the Great British Columbia Shakeout. Businesses, public buildings and schools ran a practice drill for if/when the 8775 big one 8776 comes. HD Stafford Middle students and staff did an excellent job with the first few minutes of our mock earthquake as well as evacuating the building and preparing for next steps. We hope we never have a natural disaster of a large magnitude, but we want to ensure we are prepared if we do.
The Outsiders is so well received by 6th-8th grades. I have taught it several times and they love the book and enjoy the film.
Does anyone have other suggestions on films that would fit in with a unit about conformity versus individualism, or being an outsider? So far it looks like Radio might be good, but I 8767 m wondering if there are others. I teach 9th grade at an inner-city public school. Thanks!

What, if anything, was said about the movie, 8775 Jack, 8776 with Robbin Williams, Diane Lane, and Jennifer Lopez? It has a good story and is set in a school for a good portion of the movie. It shows perseverance and embracing uniqueness. I have seen it many times, but would watch it again as though I were 68 years old so that I can gauge how my students would receive it.
Perhaps you ought to add to your list some old School House Rock movies to expand your vocabulary surely there are other adjectives that would convey your point with a tad more civility. If you want to be taken seriously, please don 8767 t use the word 8775 crap 8776 to describe someone 8767 s suggestions. Thanks.
